HRY SPACE Talk: "Artist Talk with Andrew Herzog, Jon Key, Jamal Peterman, Bradley Ward"


On June 21st from 6:30-8:30 pm, HRY SPACE in collaboration with SIMPL MAG will be hosting HRY SPACE Talk under the theme:

"Artist Talk with Andrew Herzog, Jon Key, Jamal Peterman, Bradley Ward"

Food & drinks will be provided at the event reception, the talk starts at 6:30 pm sharp.

HRY SPACE Talk is an integral programming of HRY SPACE, for which we bring industry leading individuals together in a room filled with artworks from a generation of artists that are radically reshaping the contemporary art scene, hearing them share their experiences and ideas on their own works, and how we collectively move forward to drive positive impact for millennial culture worldwide.

Andrew Herzog (@andrew_herzog)

Andrew Herzog is an artist and designer. His artwork explores the relationship between the viewer and the artist, creative accessibility, and prioritized sight. As a designer, he has worked for Google's Creative Lab, Sagmeister & Walsh and most recently co-founded the design and technology studio HAWRAF. He works medium agnostically as his inquiries take many forms manifesting as books, photographs, films, site-specific works, objects, and drawings. His work and installations have been shown internationally in New York City, Philadelphia, China, Austria, and Romania.

Jon Key (@jkey13)

Jon(athan) Key is an art director, artists, and writer. His collaborations have led him to work with a diverse set of clients and institutions as a designer, educator, and artist including HBO, MTV, The Public Theater, Cooper Union and the Whitney Museum. Jon is the co-founder of Morcos Key, a graphic design studio with his partner Wael Morcos. Jon is also co-founder and the design director of Codify Art, a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist collective whose mission is to create, produce, and showcase work that foregrounds the voices of Queer and Trans people of color. He is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design.

Jamaal Peterman (@baby_genius2)

Born in Florida and raised in MD, Jamaal Peterman is a New York-based visual artist. He holds a BFA from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (2014) and an MFA from Pratt Institute (2019). He had his first solo exhibition at Artist Proof gallery in Washington DC, Georgetown (2018). He was awarded Smack Mellon’s 2019 Hot Pick, UICA juried Exhibition Finalist for Breaching the Margins exhibition (2019 ) and New American Painting MFA and South Annual (2019) Issue. He is a (2019) recipient of Mass MoCA residency, Wassaic Project residency, and Sugar Hill Studio Program.

Bradley Ward (@brvdley)

Studio and conceptual artist from Houston, Tx based in Brooklyn, NY whose field of work revolves around agency to amplify the multidimensionality seen within black life. Most notably using basketball to illuminate the discrepancies in reality the black community faces. Highlighting charged aspects of the game; boundaries, perceptions and the cultural icons themselves to uplift survival and expression in response to the environments black people have been placed in. Received their MFA from Pratt in 2019 and recently had their first solo show in conjunction with Franchise Magazine and the Los Angeles Athletic Club this past April.
