Steve Giralt (@stevegiralt)
Steve Giralt is a very passionate Miami, FL born cuban photographer / Director, and Visual Engineer who likes to smile a lot and is fun at parties. Although he comes from a family of engineers, he studied photography at Rochester Institute of Technology. While at RIT he didn’t sleep very often, but won lots of awards. His work spans many different genres from people, the places they occupy, the things they own, or the many things they’d like to own. Steve is no longer a photographer by choice, it’s at the very root of who he is as a person. Taking the best picture possible and pushing the limits is the end goal of every photograph he ever takes.
In 2005 Steve was selected as one of PDN magazine’s 30 emerging photographers to watch. In 2006 www.stevegiralt.com won an award as part of PDN's digital PIX imaging awards. Now, Steve spends most of his time in his Manhattan studio with his dog Humphrey Bogart, upstate NY building things in his workshop, at home in Brooklyn with his family, or finding a new adventure somewhere.

Lissy Elle Laricchia (@Lissy Elle Laricchia)
Lissy grew up in a small town in Canada between a cornfield and a tall forest, and frequently played pretend in between them. Her interest in photography began at the age of 12, spurred by the obsessive fear she would one day forget her entire life were she not to document it.
As a teenager she became far less fascinated with documenting life, and far more intrigued with escaping it. By creating surreal landscapes and building elaborate blanket forts she hid from the trials and tribulations of teenage life until, at the age of 18, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography.
Now her work focuses on the combination of her two loves, documentary and surrealism. Combining forces to create whimsical imagery that still centers around every day life. Her work is often inspired by the vivid colors of early childhood, reoccurring dreams, the blurry way we see things when we are either too happy or too sad, and the soft hands of the high renaissance.
Her work has been exhibited in New York, London, Toronto, Boston, Munich, Detroit and Guatemala City.
This HRY SPACE Talk is co-organized by Omer Soylemez and Noa Eden Weinzweig
